Bill Wade - Head of School , Arts & Humanities CDU

".........Well, we have concluded another very successful Mobilizethis event with over 150 participants coming in either face to face at the Mal Nairn auditorium or through our virtual environments, Second Life, Wimba, QT Stream or LiveStream. Connections from various states, East Arnhem Land, New Zealand, China (.inc) the USA and Canada, enriched the conversations and truly established this event as having both a national and international reach. A very impactful demonstration of teaching from country, helped establish a theme that threaded throughout the day as we discussed the value of emerging technologies upon teaching and learning in remote and Indigenous Australian communities. A big thank you is extended to all presenters and participants who made the event so engaging. Thanks to Trevor Billany, Pavel Stiluk, Alex Hayes, Geoff Lubich and Michael Coghlin, who worked tirelessly to coordinate the technology and program fluidity. We also appreciated the welcome and connection's made to CDU's broader flexible delivery strategy provided by professors Charles Webb (PVC Teaching and Learning) and Gary Davis (Dean, Law Business and Arts). Thanks also to Joanna Kay (JoKay Wollongong) who also provided another fantastic online space in Second Life, which enriched our panel session and allowed some valuable discussion via our in-world participants. Schuberts for the catering, Territory FM and the CAH admin team, Amy and Katherine, for their great support. Thanks to EduPOV, for the use of their Livestream account to trial a more interactive streaming option for Mobilizethis09. Judging from the extensive chatting occuring in that space, the added value of chatting over our streaming (audio and video) of the event, was well established and relatively simple and cost effective to achieve."
